It was three years ago. So three years ago... It was Super Junior's Leeteuk and Eunhyuk's Kiss the Radio program. Shindong and I guested on the show. So once we finished, we went our way back home. I had my eyes closed and was listening to music. Then... suddenly... *koong koong koong* and then *ddeeeeeng (the sound of skidding)*... Yes, it was the car. The car flipped over three times and skid two full circles on its side, and suddenly I lost consciousness. When I finally reopened my eyes, I found myself lying face down on the ground. "What happened?" I thought to myself as I looked out, and saw the car far away in front of me - toppled onto its side. "Ah... There's been a car accident." At that time I had tried to get up. Suddenly my vision blurred out... and my life had flashed before my eyes. When I entered elementary school, the times I traveled with my parents, the first time I stood on stage... I thought to myself, "Ah... So this is what it's like to die." At that moment Eunhyuk ran up to me and held my hands... Meanwhile I was crying and praying, asking to be saved... Eunhyuk saw this and cried and prayed with me... After four days of unconsciousness - I woke up in a hospital. |
| Leeteuk: | Because I had blood all over my face, the ambulance came to me first. However there was Kyuhyun far away from us with six broken ribs. |
| Kyuhyun: | Because of that, my rib cage pierced into my lungs. What the doctors told my parents and company was... "This child... will die if we do not perform a surgical operation in his throat. Even with this, his chance of survival is 20%." However, my father said, "This child sings, he is a singer, he is a child who has a dream to sing. If you pierce his throat, take away the last thing that is precious to him, how do you expect this child to live even if he survives?" Of course the doctors responded, "Are you crazy? Your child is probably going to die, and you think his singing is more important? He has to have this operation." They got into a huge fight. Then there came a doctor who was like China's Hua Tuo, whom I owe my life to... I still remember his name, Professor Wang Yongbi. He said, "To allow your child to sing, I will try to find another method of operation." So instead of piercing my throat, I went through a different surgical procedure. After hearing that, I cried so much. Because... my father was extremely against my dream to sing. He always told me, "How can an educator's son become a singer? It doesn't make sense." So he was against my dream... and yet protected it when I was unconscious. I cried so much. |

| Kyuhyun: | It took about five months. I still remember... when I came back for my first broadcast after the accident, be it Super Junior fans or not, everyone gave me immense support. I was so touched... and it felt as if I was living a new life. Being able to sing songs I liked, to continue doing activities with Super Junior, and being able to meet the fans again... to walk, to eat... I was so thankful for these things. I continued to live. |
